Collections agency

Also: collection agency · commercial collections

A collections agency is a third party that pursues overdue invoices on a business's behalf, usually for a contingency fee of 25% to 50% of what it recovers.

Agencies recover a minority of what they are handed, less as accounts age, and usually end the customer relationship. They are the right tool for the small residue that finishes your own dunning sequence unpaid, and the wrong first tool for an invoice that has never received a direct reminder.
