Days payable outstanding

Also: DPO

Days payable outstanding (DPO) is the average number of days a business takes to pay its own suppliers.

DPO is the mirror of DSO. A business with a DSO of 50 and a DPO of 30 is funding 20 days of its customers' operations out of its own cash. Lengthening DPO (within terms) and shortening DSO both improve working capital; the second is usually more within your control.
