Average days to pay

Also: days to pay · collection speed

Average days to pay is the mean number of days between an invoice's issue date and the date it was paid, measured only on invoices that were actually paid.

It is the cleanest measure of client payment behavior because it ignores unpaid invoices and sales volume entirely. Track it by client to see who is drifting from net 30 to net 45 before the aging report shows it.

Paired with DSO, it separates two different problems: DSO rising while days to pay is flat means you invoiced more; days to pay rising means clients are slowing down.
